"God did it"

Introduction

Evolutionists have a thousand charicatures of Christians. One of these charicatures is that, whenever a Christian is faced with something we cannot explain, we will just say "God did it" to fill in the gap, and leave it at that. According to the myth, Christians cannot do true science because we will always use God to fill in the blanks. But is this charicature a fair one? In this article, we will explain why this is just one more vicious attack from atheists who cannot come up with a valid argument for their religion.

You've all heard the phrase "God did it." It's the answer every atheist hates to hear, yet loves to say. It is the characature of Christians in science. As the myth goes, Christians hate science. There are even some who will make the outlandish claim that Christianity held science back for 1000 years. See, apparantly, because Christians believe in a designer of the universe and everything in it, we don't look any deeper, we just say "God did it", and that is the end of it. This is, of course, an unsatisfactory answer, and atheists therefore say it is a false one.

Whenever an atheist used this argument in the past, I would usually have given the same answer. My answer, however, is long winded. Recently, however, I have realised that a better answer has been staring me in the face. The mechanic did it! See, if I took a class in vehicle design, and the tutor stood at the front of the class pointing to cars and just saying "the mechanic did it", I wouldn't accept the answer. I mean yeah, it's true, a mechanic did, indeed, design the car, obviously. But how did the mechanic build the car? How does it work? In the same way, yes, God made the universe, but does that really explain how the universe works? Would that really stop us from trying to understand the world a little more?

God made the moon, but does that stop us from landing on it? He made the sea, but even Jesus took some boat trips. He made the sky, but just as I'd like to know how a car spins its wheels, I'd very much like to know how clouds form. Just because we understand that God made the universe does not mean we cannot explore it. In fact, the fact that God designed the universe is the very premise on which science was originally based. Without "God did it", we would still be stuck with the "science" of the ancient pagan religions, which means we would believe in capricious gods who can and will change the laws of physics at their own will. We would still believe that human beings are descended from fish like creatures. We would still believe that the universe was created out of nothing. We would still believe that life comes from non living material. We would still believe... wait... modern scientists DO still preach that stuff...
