Was Hermes born of a virgin?

Simple answer: No. Hermes is yet another child of the insatiable Zeus, who this time sought to sleep with Maia, the daughter of Atlas. After 10 months, Hermes is born, and he quickly scurries away to make a stringed instrument from several decapitated animals in a cave.

Attempted infanticide

I can find no reference to an attempt on Hermes' life while he is a child, though as an infant he certainly has no problem killing anything that moves and hanging their bodies out to dry.

Killed and resurrected

Again, while Hermes has no problem taking a few lives, his own life is never taken in Greek myths.

Conclusion

From my research, it doesn't seem Hermes has any of the attributes he allegedly gave to Jesus. The differences between the two are astranomical. Better to trust the historical accounts of Jesus found in the Bible than the seemingly willful deception of copycat theorists.

Who was Hermes?

Hermes, son of Zeus, is the second youngest of Olympian Greek gods. He is a god of fertility that also helps guide dead souls to the underworld. He also acts as a messenger between man and the gods. He is a bit of a player when it comes to the ladies, having had sexual relations with a whole range of females, including godesses, nymphs and mortal women. His Roman counterpart is Mercury.

Born December 25th?

I can find absolutely no reference what so ever to Hermes being born on December 25th. However, even if I could, December 25th is not relevant to Christianity anyway. While most Christians celebrate Jesus' birth on December 25th, this is a matter of tradition, not theology. It is not known when Jesus was born, because neither the Bible, nor any historical document, records his exact date of birth. By comparing Biblical texts with other historical documents, it can be assumed that Jesus' actual date of birth was somewhere in the autumn of 4-6 B.C.

Is Hermes like Jesus?

Introduction

Are Hermes and Jesus one and the same? Copycat theorists say that Hermes is like Jesus because he was born of a virgin on December 25th, had an attempt made on his life when he was an infant, died for the attonement of sins and was resurrected. In this article, we will show that, once again, copycat theorists have it horribly, horribly wrong.
